| Denver Broncos Prepared To Trade Brandon Lloyd | |
The NFL trade deadline is closely approaching and with that realization the Denver Broncos are currently seeking a new home for Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Lloyd. According to NFL sources the Bronco’s have three to four teams interested in Lloyd including the Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans. In exchange for their pro bowler the Broncos are seeking a third to fifth round draft pick. If the Bronco’s don’t pass off Lloyd before the Tuesday deadline they won’t be able to trade him until the 2012 season begins in March. The Bronco’s need to remove Lloyd from their active roster to make room for the return this week of Demaryius Thomas (Achilles and broken finger injury) and Eddie Royal. The nine season veteran has been the starting receiver alongside third-round 2010 draft pick Eric Decker. NFL sources also told the DenverPost:
Lloyd would be a steal for any team that picks him up, last season he led the NFL receiving corp with 1,448 yards and 11 touchdowns with 77 catches. Lloyd is earning $1.395 million for the current season. For Brandon Lloyd it’s business as usual after having already played for San Francisco, Washington and Chicago during his 9 year career. This season Lloyd has 19 catches for 283 yards and no touchdowns although he did miss one regular season game with a groin strain. The Broncos play Miami on Oct. 23. Where do you think Brandon Lloyd should end up?

| Denver Broncos’ offense focuses on short-yardage… | |
For much of training camp, the Broncos’ new offense has looked like the Broncos’ old offense. Pass, pass, pass. Not so Tuesday. Denver coaches decided to work on short-yardage and goal-line situations — and the play calls mostly went run, run, run. This just a few days after the Broncos called a fade pass on first-and-goal in the preseason opener at Dallas last week. “We looked at some short yardage and goal line live there at the end, just to get the toughness part of it, and the guys answered the bell pretty good,” coach John Fox said. Willis McGahee took snaps ahead of Knowshon Moreno in much of the situational drills, though both running backs worked with the first team. “They can both do everything. They can both run inside, they can both run outside, they can both catch the ball really well. I enjoy having both of them back there,” quarterback Kyle Orton said. “It’s really easy to see you need two backs in this league. I don’t think there is a good running team out there that only has one back.” The other Orton. Kyle Orton and Greg Orton never were teammates at Purdue, but Kyle was a big reason Greg also became a Boilermaker. “One game he threw like 60 times and I was like, man, as a receiver, you love to see that,” Greg said Tuesday. Greg Orton was signed by the Broncos on Sunday to add depth at wide receiver, a position depleted by injuries. He’s not the typical preseason addition, though. Orton spent the past two seasons playing for the Spokane Shock in the Arena Football League. Last season he had 112 catches and 34 touchdowns. He also was working at a hotel and taking classes online to finish his degree at Purdue when the Broncos called. “I know this is my shot. I’m very happy to be here,” Orton said. “It’s now just adjusting from the indoor to the outdoor game. In arena, I’m used to the ball coming so fast. Sometimes out here it feels like I’m just Greg Orton played in the Arena Football League the last two seasons. waiting for it.” Footnotes. Veteran safety Brian Dawkins invited the freshman football team at Valor Christian High School to Dove Valley on Tuesday and spoke with the players after practice. Dawkins’ son, Brian Jr., is a member of the Valor Christian team. . . . In addition to releasing running back LenDale White, the Broncos on Tuesday waived undrafted rookie linebacker A.J. Jones. Newly acquired linebacker Alvin Bowen, signed off waivers from Jacksonville, didn’t arrive in time to participate in Tuesday’s morning practice. . . . Six players were held out of practice because of injuries: cornerback Syd’Quan Thompson (groin), guard Stanley Daniels (ankle), defensive tackles Marcus Thomas (pectoral) and Ty Warren (triceps), tight end Richard Quinn (knee) and wide receiver Demaryius Thomas (Achilles). | Broncos and Browns interested in Falcons coordinator Mularkey | |
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos will interview Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey for their vacant head coaching position this week. The team announced via its official Twitter account Tuesday that Mularkey would be interviewed Friday in Atlanta. The Falcons are off this week after earning a first-round bye in the playoffs. Mularkey was head coach in Buffalo from 2004-05 and has been with the Falcons since 2008. John Elway will be introduced as the Broncos’ new chief football executive this week, and he’ll interview Denver interim coach Eric Studesville for the full-time job next week. Studesville was promoted from running backs coach when Josh McDaniels was fired a month ago. The Cleveland Browns also will interview Mularkey for their head coaching job. Mularkey said Tuesday he has been contacted by the Browns and Denver Broncos. He said he will speak with both teams “at the end of the week.†CINCINNATI: Marvin Lewis is staying as Bengals coach. Lewis agreed to a contract extension on Tuesday. The Bengals are coming off a 4-12 season. They’ve had only two winning records during Lewis’ eight seasons, which would get a coach fired in most NFL cities. In Cincinnati, Lewis’ 60-69-1 record wasn’t a deal breaker. SAN FRANCISCO: The 49ers have gotten permission to talk to Oakland Raiders offensive coordinator Hue Jackson about their head coach opening. NASHVILLE: Titans owner Bud Adams still has his coach in Jeff Fisher, and a quarterback in Vince Young. Fisher says talks are ongoing in what he calls a complicated process.Fisher did his weekly radio show Tuesday night as scheduled. His job status has been in question since the Titans lost eight of their final nine games for a 6-10 record, but the NFL’s uncertain labor situation could keep him around. If Fisher stays, Young isn’t expected to remain after a blowup with the coach in front of the team after a game Nov. 21. DALLAS: Jason Garrett may soon know whether his half-season audition was good enough to make him coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Team owner Jerry Jones said on his radio show Tuesday morning that he could have a decision as soon as the afternoon. He added that “we probably won’t be ready to talk about this until tomorrow some time.†Jones was expected to be headed to New Orleans later Tuesday to watch his alma mater, Arkansas, play in the Sugar Bowl. What do you guys think about this. Posted in broncos-news | Comments Off
