Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow (15) was mobbed by fans as he came up to shake hands before Sunday’s game. (Tim Rasmussen, The Denver Post) Kyle Browning craned his neck west, away from Sports Authority Field and called back to his favorite parking attendant an hour before kickoff. “See ya next game,” said the optimistic Denver Broncos fanatic, decked in orange and blue. “You got that right,” called back Tom Jensen, “next week.” The parking lots emptied quickly as the 2:15 p.m. kickoff approached, a game that was all about the future, but very much about the past. “Kyle who,” bellowed Tania Vasquez, attending her first Broncos’ game this year, because her boss was out of town. “I love Tim Tebow, and I’ve loved him since he was in college … I’ll love him even more if he takes Orton and the Chiefs to the woodshed.” Much more than the love of a young woman is at stake for Tebow and the Broncos, to say the least. First, there’s the playoffs. If the Broncos beat Orton and Kansas City this afternoon, they’re in the playoffs as AFC West champions. If they lose, then Mile High eyes turn to Oakland (8-7), which is taking on San Diego (7-8) with much the same stakes as Denver on the line. “Tim is the future,” said Matt Johnson, 14. “Kyle is the past, man.” Overall, Orton was 12-21 as a Broncos starting quarterback. Never has a released QB come back to haunt his former team in the same season so spectacularly. Orton was released by the Broncos and picked up by KC in November, after being benched for Tebow on Oct. 9. Orton took a seat in this stadium at halftime of a 29-24 loss to San Diego. He completed 6 of 13 throws for 34 yards with an interception, his seventh of the year. Tebow was 4 of 10 for 79 yards and a touchdown. The national fad-in-waiting also ran six times for 39 yards and another score. Despite a closer score thanks to Tebow’s two second-half scores, the Chargers still doubled Denver in time of possession for the game. With Orton’s help, the Chiefs can salvage a decent season, moving to 7-9, after a season riddled with injuries to starters, including quarterback Matt Cassel, who suffered a season-ending hand injury against Denver on Nov. 13. The crowd roared boos as the Chiefs entered the field, and the cheers of approval at kickoff were electric as KC’s Javiar Arenas took a knee in the endzone with the opening kickoff. | Tim Tebow Looks for Big Game Against Kansas City…
Tim Tebow gets one more chance to show what he can do on the football field during the regular season. The Denver Broncos take on the Kansas City Chiefs to decide the AFC West on Sunday, Jan. 1. The scenario is pretty simple for Tebow and his Broncos in that if the team wins, they clinch the AFC West. If they lose, the Oakland Raiders can win the division by beating the San Diego Chargers. The Week 17 game is also a chance for Tebow to put up more fantasy football points for leagues that still count stats this week. Last week, Tebow had a rough game against the Buffalo Bills, throwing 3 interceptions and losing a fumble. He did have 185 passing yards, 34 rushing yards, a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown, but Tebow finished the week with just 15.8 fantasy points. That made him the No. 17 ranked quarterback for the week and not exactly what fans were looking to see from him with seasons on the line. Now Tebow faces a team that he didn’t have a lot of success against in Week 10, but it is a team that he also helped his Broncos to beat. While the Broncos won the game 17-10, Tebow was 2-of-8 in passing with one touchdown and he also rushed for another 43 yards and a touchdown. Overall those aren’t great numbers, but it was good enough for the Broncos to win the game. Now the team hosts the Chiefs in a Week 17 must-win situation and Tebow goes out for a second chance to put up big numbers. It doesn’t seem likely that Tebow will have great fantasy football numbers in Week 17, but many also predicted he wouldn’t have them against some of the other teams he has beaten either. The truth is that you never know what to expect from Tebow in games like this one, but the likely scenario is that he will put the Broncos in a position to win the game in the fourth quarter. It’s a risky start if you are trying to figure out your Week 17 quarterback situation and simply looking at his performance in Week 10 against the Chiefs, I wouldn’t advise going with Tebow in this game either. | Tebow Thinking More About The Game Than Being A…

(Photo by Rick Stewart/Getty Images) DENVER (CBS4)- A new survey puts Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow at the top of the list for the most desired celebrity neighbor. But he’s not thinking about that. Tebow is too busy thinking about the upcoming New Year’s Day game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The Broncos need to beat the Chiefs in order to make it to the playoffs if the Oakland Raiders win against the San Diego Chargers. If the Raiders lose, the Broncos will clinch a playoff spot whether they win or lose. Tebow will be facing the man he replaced, Kyle Orton, on Sunday. Tebow is coming off his worst game of the year after he threw three interceptions and a fumble against the Buffalo Bills on Christmas Eve. “Part of being motivated and learning from mistakes and past failures and also learning from losses. Having that feeling and let that disappointment drive you in practice and meetings to watch more to do more. So I don’t know if you just want to let everything go and just continue to be the same person. I think you need to let it eat at you a little bit because it can make you better as a player, as a person,” said Tebow. The survey by Zillow.com shows many Americans think Tebow would be a good neighbor. Eleven percent of the respondents said they would like to live next to Tebow. He even beat out “Friends” star Jennifer Aniston and celebrity couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. What are your opinions. Posted in broncos-news | Comments Off

| Tim Tebow And Denver Broncos Called ‘Luckiest’… | |
The numbers do not tell the same story as the NFL standings. So while Broncos fans will undoubtedly point to the final wins and losses of the 2011 season and cite the popular phrase, “You are what your record says you are,” others will say otherwise. The Denver Broncos have been awfully “lucky” this season, according to ESPN’s Chris Sprow, and the numbers agree with him as he develops a formula that says the Broncos should have lost more than they won this season.
In fact, the Broncos should have 5.8 wins this season (six if you round up, of course). Sprow writes, “Sorry Denver fans, but to paraphrase “The World According to Garp,” in the world where luck isn’t a factor, this case is terminal. With more than a quarter of Denver’s wins ascribed to good fortune, its division is its only fallback.” The San Francisco 49ers are next on the list among the playoff contenders as the next luckiest team — somehow a fact that doesn’t surprise since a team with Alex Smith and Frank Gore as their offensive core has never made for a winning formula until this season. As for the Broncos, some will say that Tebow just wins and the numbers cannot measure that. Others can point to the Chiefs’ season last year and say it’s the same thing on a different team. Either way, the Broncos are definitely an anomaly that many are trying their best to explain. What are your opinions. Posted in broncos-news | Comments Off

| Dawkins held out of Broncos practice | |

ENGLEWOOD, COLO. (AP) — Brian Dawkins is being held out of the Denver Broncos’ practice because of a neck injury that has bothered him for most of the month. Fellow starting safety Quinton Carter (lower back) and nickel cornerback Chris Harris (neck), who leads all rookie DBs with 62 tackles, are both participating in the team’s final full-padded practice after leaving last weekend’s loss at Buffalo with those injuries. The Broncos are hoping for a healthy secondary to face former teammate Kyle Orton, who brings the Kansas City Chiefs (6-9) to town Sunday with a chance to beat the team that benched him in favor of Tim Tebow. Orton can exact some revenge on the Broncos (8-7) by denying them their first playoff berth since 2005, when they last won the AFC West. (Copyright ©2011 by The Associated Press.
