Read More: Willis McGahee (RB – DEN), Carson Palmer (QB – OAK), Darren McFadden (RB – OAK), Tim Tebow (QB – DEN), Demaryius Thomas (WR – DEN), Oakland Raiders, Denver Broncos If you can’t trust Tim Tebow this weekend, then you can’t trust the Broncos offense. It’s just about as simple as that for any Denver Broncos fantasy options on offense for this week’s game against the Oakland Raiders. QB Tim Tebow hasn’t been great at home so far this season, so it’s difficult to expect a great performance in what will surely be a raucous environment at the Black Hole in Oakland. The most likely fantasy scenario would be that Tebow picks up decent points with his scrambling and planned runs, but struggles to get anyone else like Willis McGahee or Demaryius Thomas involved in the passing game unless (until?) they are throwing against a prevent defense in garbage time. Meanwhile, the Broncos defense could be a nice sleeper play. RB Darren McFadden has been ruled out for the game, and Carson Palmer is making his first start on a new team. The experts at NumberFire expect Palmer to struggle, as he is projected to throw for only 112 yards in what is expected to be a conservative game plan. If you don’t mind taking a little bit of risk in hoping that Palmer throws a couple INTs and stalls the wounded Raiders offense, you might want to give the Broncos defense a shot. ENGLEWOOD, COLO. (AP) — The Denver Broncos’ new deep threat is Demaryius Thomas, who’s had more injuries than touchdowns since becoming the first wide receiver selected in the 2010 NFL draft, ahead of Dallas’ Dez Bryant. On the same day the Broncos traded Tim Tebow’s top target, Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Lloyd, to the St. Louis Rams, Thomas practiced for the first time in a month after recovering from a fractured left pinkie that required surgery. Thomas said he’s confident he’ll play Sunday at Miami. The burly wide receiver from Georgia Tech missed six games last year while dealing with a recurrent foot injury, a concussion and a sprained ankle. He tore his right Achilles tendon in offseason workouts earlier this year and last month shattered his left pinkie during his first padded practice. (Copyright ©2011 by The Associated Press. | Denver Broncos Injury Report: Demaryius Thomas A… | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Read More: Brodrick Bunkley (DT – DEN), Ty Warren (DE – DEN), Chris Kuper (G – DEN), Matthew Willis (WR – DEN), David Bruton (FS – DEN), Demaryius Thomas (WR – DEN), Quinton Carter (S – DEN), Denver Broncos The Denver Broncos released their first full injury report prior to Monday’s game against the Oakland Raiders. Most of the news was expected. However, there were two status updates on each end of the injury line that provide some surprise. Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas had full participation in Thursday’s practice, which shows how much he has improved in his recovery from a torn Achilles. Still, he might not be active for the game. Defensive tackle Marcus Thomas didn’t practice, casting doubt that he will play in Monday’s game. He’s not fully recovered from a strained pectoral muscle, which has allowed Kevin Vickerson to move back into the starting lineup. Vickerson will play with Brodrick Bunkley, who looks ready to go after a knee injury in the preseason. Ty Warren and D.J. Williams both have injuries that will keep them out, though Williams’ dislocated elbow will only prevent him from playing for a couple of weeks. Warren’s triceps injury will keep him out for several months. Here is a complete Broncos injury report:

| Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas tears Achilles’ | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos’ deep wide receiving group is getting thinner by the day. Demaryius Thomas, who just completed a star-crossed rookie season, tore an Achilles’ tendon during an offseason workout in Atlanta just a week after slot receiver Eddie Royal had hip surgery that could sideline him until the summer.
Thomas, the first receiver selected in last year’s draft, is expected to be out six to eight months. “I have no doubt that Demaryius will overcome this setback,” Broncos coach John Fox said in a statement. “He’s proven he can handle adversity and will get through this. We look forward to getting Demaryius back on the field as soon as possible.” Neither Thomas nor his agent, Todd France, responded to messages from The Associated Press. When Fox was hired last month to oversee the Broncos’ massive makeover, he mentioned the deep receiving group as the primary luxury he was inheriting in Denver. Fixing the defense remains priority No. 1 in Denver, but the Broncos will have to at least consider taking a wide receiver in the draft, where they have just a half-dozen picks, three of which are in the top 50, including the No. 2 overall selection. The Broncos are hopeful Royal can return by late May, and Pro Bowler Brandon Lloyd is coming off a big season and is under contract as is Jabar Gaffney and up-and-comer Eric Decker, a third-round draft pick out of Minnesota last year. Thomas was selected 22nd overall out of Georgia Tech a year ago, three spots ahead of Denver’s other first-round pick, quarterback Tim Tebow. Thomas has been dealing with one injury after another since deciding to go pro after three solid seasons at Georgia Tech. He fractured his left foot in pre-draft workouts and just when he began to show flashes of being able to use his 6-foot-3, 230-pound body and athleticism to present matchup problems and have a big impact, he tore scar tissue in the foot during a training camp scrimmage and was never really the same. He missed the rest of camp and the opener and although he caught eight passes for 97 yards and a touchdown in his debut against Seattle a week later, he never tallied more than three catches in any other game. He was knocked out of one game with a concussion while returning a kickoff and was also sidelined for the final five weeks of the season with a sprained ankle. Thomas played in 10 games, starting twice and finishing with 22 receptions for 283 yards and two scores. He also returned 16 kicks for a 24.9-yard average. CBS4 in Denver first reported Thomas’ injury on Twitter. — The Associated Press That’s all the news for today. Posted in broncos-news | Comments Off
