The Denver Broncos face the Kansas City Chiefs in an AFC West battle this weekend, and they should be healthy for the most part when that happens. The team released its Wednesday injury report recently, and only player didn’t participate at all during the day’s practices. The full list can be found here, but it’s shown below.

Did Not Participate

- LB Wesley Woodyard

Limited Participation

- S Brian Dawkins

- S Rahim Moore

- CB Cassius Vaughn

- TE Virgil Green

- FB Spencer Larsen

Full Participation

- RB Willis McGahee

For the most part, the Broncos should be at full strength by Sunday’s game. Running back Willis McGahee is essentially healthy after rehabbing a hand injury, giving the offense one of its key weapons again. The other two key guys here are the safeties, Brian Dawkins and Rahim Moore. Both participated on a limited basis on Wednesday.

Denver Broncos Injury Report: Willis McGahee…

Read More: Brian Dawkins (S – DEN), Willis McGahee (RB – DEN), Elvis Dumervil (DE – DEN), Julius Thomas (TE – DEN), Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos saw two new additions to the injury report on Thursday. Defensive tackle Marcus Thomas had limited participation in practice due to a knee injury. More information on the issue has not yet been released, but this is Thomas’ third injury of the year. A pectoral injury sidelined him during the preseason and the start of the season. Right before he was ready to return, Thomas suffered groin injury.

Also added to the report was safety Brian Dawkins. He was excused from practice due to illness.

Elvis Dumervil and Willis McGahee didn’t practice again, but that was expected. Dumervil will attempt to practice on Friday, but he will more than likely be out for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions.

Julius Thomas appears ready to play for the first time since he had a high-ankle sprain in Week 2′s victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Here is the Thursday injury report:

Denver Broncos Injury Update: Brian Dawkins Misses…

Read More: Brian Dawkins (S – DEN), Denver Broncos

Denver Broncos safety Brian Dawkins missed Thursday’s practice, but he hasn’t come down with injury. Rather, head coach John Fox reported that Dawkins sat out the day due to illness. How that affects his status for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions remains unknown.

Dawkins is coming off his best game of the season. He recorded two sacks against the Miami Dolphins and had five total tackles. Dawkins had hurt his neck earlier in the season, which led the Broncos to sign Rafael Bush off the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad after Brandon Lloyd was traded, but he was good to go after the bye week.

The full Broncos injury report will come out later on Thursday evening.

After having Tuesday surgery on his broken right hand, Denver Broncos running back Willis McGahee has missed the last two practices. McGahee’s status for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions is likely to be “out” when Friday’s injury report is released.

Also sitting out Thursday’s practice were defensive end Elvis Dumervil and safety Brian Dawkins. The former hurt his ankle against the Miami Dolphins and might attempt to practice on Friday. He is expected to be inactive for Sunday’s game. Dawkins was at practice on Wednesday, but Andrew Mason of Max Denver suggests it could be a rest day for the veteran. McGahee had a similar day of rest leading up to the Dolphins game.

The injury reports for the Denver Broncos and the Miami Dolphins came out on Friday afternoon and there was nothing unexpected on it. Despite Reggie Bush and Brandon Marshall missing Wednesday’s practice, both had full participation in Thursday’s and Friday’s time on the field and are listed as probable for the game. Running back Daniel Thomas is also probable. The Dolphins have two defensive backs listed as questionable and another as doubtful.

For the Denver Broncos, only tight end Julius Thomas, recovering from a high-ankle sprain, is questionable. He hasn’t played since Week 2. Demaryius Thomas is expected to receive his first playing time this year after coming back from Achilles surgery and a broken pinky finger (the latter delaying his return).

Denver Broncos Injury Report: Broncos Have All 53…

Read More: Brian Dawkins (S – DEN), Willis McGahee (RB – DEN), Eddie Royal (WR – DEN), Demaryius Thomas (WR – DEN), Julius Thomas (TE – DEN), Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos had all 53 men on the active roster participate on Thursday, the second time that has happened all season long. Only Willis McGahee saw a downgrade from full participation to limited. However, that should not be considered a sign that McGahee has a nagging back issue. According to Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post, McGahee was limited so he could receive rest.

McGahee turns 30 on Oct. 21 and he has shouldered much of the rushing load this season while Knowshon Moreno battled injury and general ineffectiveness.

Brian Dawkins looks more and more likely to play even with a neck injury impacting his play. Tight end Julius Thomas hasn’t played since Week 2 when he suffered a high-ankle sprain.

Here is the injury report through Thursday:

Name  Pos. Injury  Wed.  Thu.
Brian Dawkins S  Head/Neck  LP  FP
Willis McGahee RB  Back  FP  LP
Eddie Royal WR  Groin  FP  FP
Julius Thomas TE  Ankle  LP  LP

Oct 5, 2011 – The Denver Broncos have been without the services of cornerback Champ Bailey for the past three games, but he did practice all of last week. On Wednesday, Bailey was on the practice, along with Marcus Thomas, for the media practice session, the team’s official Twitter account reported.

Without Champ Bailey, Aaron Rodgers threw four touchdowns and had over 400 passing yards. Coverage on wide receivers was lacking, especially when Greg Jennings was wide open for a touchdown late in the second quarter.

Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post reports that Brian Dawkins was not present at the start of practice, but there is no word on why he was absent. Additionally, Daniel Fells, Demaryius and Julius Thomas and Eddie Royal were not at practice. Fells did injure himself during Sunday’s game, but he returned to fumble a ball and catch a touchdown pass.

Dawkins takes pay cut to stay in Denver

Updated Aug 10, 2011 12:13 PM ET

DENVER

Faced with the prospect of becoming another veteran salary cap casualty, Denver Broncos safety Brian Dawkins agreed to allow the team to pay him two-thirds less this season, the Denver Post reported Wednesday.

According to contracts submitted to the NFL office Tuesday, the 37-year-old Dawkins will make $1.6 million with a $400,000 bonus, instead of the $6 million in salary he was scheduled to make under his previous contract.

Dawkins, heading into his 16th NFL season, also saw the final two years of his contract chopped, so after this season he will be a free agent. Had he not agreed to the new financial terms, the team likely would have been forced to cut Dawkins.

“Where I am in my life as a person, this is no big deal to me,” Dawkins said, according to the report. “It’s what I felt was right. The last two-and-a-half years, I had a horrible taste in my mouth. I really wanted to be part of this team, part of the Denver Broncos … I could have decided to continue my career some other place, but that’s not what I wanted to do.”

Dawkins, who spent 13 years as the Philadelphia Eagles’ strong safety and made it to eight Pro Bowls, said his decision was also motivated by a desire to play for new head coach John Fox.

“I’ve put down some roots here with my home and my teammates,” Dawkins said. “And a huge factor in this decision was having Coach (John) Fox here. I like what he’s brought here. I’m excited about what we have going on here with the Denver Broncos.”

Armed with the savings from Dawkins’ pay cut, the Broncos were able to sign or acquire a slew of players, including defensive linemen Ty Warren and Brodrick Bunkley, running back Willis McGahee, and tight ends Daniel Fells and Dante Rosario.

Running low on time today, i’ll be back tomorrow hopefully with some more news.

Newcomers join Denver Broncos in practice

DENVER (AP) — Broncos safety Brian Dawkins says it’s a huge relief to return to practice now that NFL players have ratified a new, 10-year collective bargaining agreement.

On Thursday, newcomers and players who had been held out of practices due to labor-agreement fine print were participating in drills at the Broncos’ afternoon practice.

For the first time the Broncos were whole, as 10 players joined coach John Fox in pads, not as spectators.

Denver Broncos offensive tackle Ryan Clady is 100…

Offensive tackle Ryan Clady spent nearly all of the 2010 preseason watching from the sideline as he recovered from knee surgery.

He made a start in every regular- season game, but it was clear that the knee injury — which happened in April 2010 — affected his performance. But he said Saturday he is 100 percent healthy and eager to prove he can play as well as he did in 2009, when he made the all-pro first team.

“I definitely feel a lot better,” Clady said. “It’s been a nice offseason for me to get that knee back to where it needs to be so I can play at the level I want to play at.”

Coach Quinn.

Brady Quinn took all of his snaps in Saturday’s scrimmage with the third-team offense, a group that included a lot of rookies.

“You’ve got to teach them a little bit and tell them what they have here and there. There’s just a little bit of teaching going on while I am trying to play as well,” said Quinn, who made 12 starts at quarterback for the Cleveland Browns before being traded to the Broncos last year.

Quinn completed 7-of-8 passes Saturday, including a touchdown strike to rookie tight end Virgil Green.

“I feel more comfortable and confident in it, and now I am able to help other guys a little,” Quinn said.

On hold.

Several of the newest Broncos were held out of the scrimmage.

Defensive linemen Ty Warren and Derrick Harvey didn’t participate in any of the drills. Running back Willis McGahee and safety Brian Dawkins participated in the first part of practice but not in the scrimmage.

“They aren’t ready for (live contact) yet,” coach John Fox said. “Just being smart and keeping them healthy for (the) Sept. 12 (regular- season opener against the Raiders).”

Pass the playbook.

When their first-team offense was on the field Saturday, the Broncos called three running plays and eight passing plays. Expect that ratio to eventually change.

“We’ll blend in the run,” Fox said.

Fox said the Broncos wanted to work on parts of their passing game during the scrimmage, including pass protection.

The Broncos were short on tailbacks Saturday, with McGahee being held out of full-team drills and LenDale White slowly returning from a sore back.

Denver waived rookie running back Mario Fannin, who suffered a knee injury during Friday’s practice. He will be replaced on the roster by running back C.J. Gable, who was claimed off waivers from the New Orleans Saints.

Footnotes.

Linebacker D.J. Williams (thigh), wide receiver Eron Riley (undisclosed injury) and defensive tackles Louis Leonard (knee) and Mitch Unrein (knee) didn’t practice Saturday. Wesley Woodyard was the starter at weakside linebacker, replacing Williams. . . . Official attendance at Invesco Field at Mile High was 17,982, about 2,000 fewer than last year.

Broncos’ Player-Led Camp Merges With Others, Waits For Resolution On NFL Lockout

Read More: Brian Dawkins (S – DEN), Orlando Franklin (OT – DEN), Denver Broncos

If the NFL Lockout ends soon enough, training camps may be able to start on time and preseason games won’t need to be canceled. But that’s if a new collective bargaining agreement is in place within a week or so. If not, teams and players will begin to feel the real impact of a lockout.

But for the Denver Broncos, like many other teams, voluntary camps continue through the summer. And after last week, the camp safety Brian Dawkins organized has ended and transitioned into part of a camp run by Loren Landow, who oversaw the original workouts, reports the Denver Post.

Landow, the article states, was really encouraged by the work of the offensive lineman. Having consistency on the line will be an issue for the Broncos when they enter camp since they struggled with that early on in the 2010 season. With the loss of Ryan Harris and the addition of Orlando Franklin at right tackle, getting in sync will be a top priority.

This Camp Landow is a mix of Broncos players as well as players and free agents who are located in Denver as well as undrafted free agents waiting to get their shot at an NFL roster.

Can The Denver Broncos Solve Their Roster Issues After Lockout?

Read More: Brian Dawkins (S – DEN), Kyle Orton (QB – DEN), Eddie Royal (WR – DEN), Knowshon Moreno (RB – DEN), Tim Tebow (QB – DEN), Demaryius Thomas (WR – DEN), Rahim Moore (S – DEN), Quinton Carter (S – DEN), Julius Thomas (TE – DEN), Von Miller (LB – DEN), Denver Broncos

When they drafted linebacker Von Miller with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos left a huge hole in their defensive line. Can they fix that once league business picks up? That’s what Gregg Rosenthal of Pro Football Talk leads off with in his checklist for moves the Broncos need to cover after a new CBA is agreed upon. He goes on to make seven on-field issues and one off-field issue.

Aside from the defensive tackle issue, another major issue Rosenthal finds is that of safety Brian Dawkins. Yes, the team did draft Rahim Moore and Quinton Carter, but they’ll need to learn from Dawkins for at least a season before the Dawkins era ends.

Most of the other concerns are well-tread ground: running back (DeAngelo Williams to pair with Knowshon Moreno, right?), make the defense run smoothly in a 4-3 base. Rosenthal wants the wide receivers healthy with Demaryius Thomas out for several months and Eddie Royal coming back from hip surgery, but the emergent Brandon Lloyd, Jabar Gaffney and Eric Decker as well as rookie tight ends Julius Thomas and Virgil Green actually give that group some depth.

And we can’t be left without a mention of the Kyle Orton-Tim Tebow debate. Rosenthal falls on the side of “Don’t trade Orton unless you are getting a ‘decent’ draft pick.” He thinks a third-rounder will get it done, but other indications are that the Broncos want to start at a second-rounder and go higher.

He closes with the suggestion that John Elway needs to be out in front of whatever happens this season, but I doubt we’ll hear more blame pushed onto Josh McDaniels should this team struggle in 2011.

Tim Tebow Appears On The Daily Show With Jon Stewart To Promote His New Autobiography

Denver Broncos’ quarterback Tim Tebow appeared on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” Tuesday evening to promote his new autobiographical book, “Through My Eyes.”

Tebow speaks about the player-organized practices in Colorado that he and other Broncos are participating in, lead by veteran safety Brian Dawkins as well as the player-organized workouts in Florida with many Denver Broncos teammates, as well.

Jon Stewart made light of Tebow’s writing an autobiography at such a young age of 23, Stewart said, “A lot of people might say you want to wait until you are 24 to write an autobiography.”

Tebow takes it in stride and opens up about his youth growing up briefly in the Philippines with his parents, who were missionaries there. That experience with his parents led him to create his own foundation that supports around 600 orphans, the Tim Tebow Foundation.

To which Stewart jokingly quips to Tebow, “Wow, you seem like a real asshole.” Stewart, goes on to state in all seriousness, “I mean, you read this book, you do such nice things.”
